Every year, RMITV stocks up on Red
Bull, V, and other assorted caffeinated beverages, and
gets together for an ALL NIGHT LIVE TELETHON to
support and raise funds for a worthy cause.
This year we have chosen the issue of Refugees… A call to
remind the Melbourne folk that the issue is not closed and why!
The night will serve to both highlight the best of Melbourne’s
refugee support networks, featuring community initiatives and
multicultural entertainment, as well as underscoring the plight of
asylum seekers who come to Australia, and the issues they face.
Viewers on the night will be encouraged to actively engage with the
event, with a live phone line, and a website encouraging donations to
the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
The Content
With a cornucopia of live music and theatrical performances,
comedy, student work (short films), live games, intercut with
related interviews, documentaries and stories advocating the cause,
Uplate08 is set to be a fantastic night.
The Night
The telethon will be eight hours in length
and will run on Friday night the 29th of August at 10.30pm to Saturday the 30th of August at 6.30am,
live to Channel 31.
The show will be live from two multi camera stations and a
phone room. It will be comprised of a range of pretaped
and live studio material, consisting of bands, games,
theatre and panel discussions.
This is endurance T.V at it’s best. All night a dedicated Crew
will maintain the enthusiasm, encouraging the audience to
actively engage with the event itself.
